The Crowne Plaza Glen Ellyn is proud to have been selected to win these awards:
The "2009 Green Initiative Award" awarded by the DuPage Convention and Visitors Bureau recognizing the Crowne Plaza Glen Ellyn's sustainable practices. The bureau recognized the hotel's environmental commitment, including sustainable programs like guest recycling, insulated low-E glass windows and energy-reducing boilers. The hotel's linen reuse program, use of regional vendors, hybrid transportation, CFL light bulbs and more, make it an environmentally conscious property. The committee also acknowledged the hotel's adjacent restaurant, Glen Prairie local Flavor Find Food & Drink, serving locally-sourced, seasonable fare from local farmer's markets. Daniel Ovanin, executive chef of Glen Prairie, makes three visits weekly to local farmer's markets to source the freshest ingredients for the restaurant. The restaurant also promotes sustainability and "green" living by using recycled paper for its menus and employing only 100% compostable and biodegradable materials for its take-out supplies.
The "2009 Traveling Trophy Award" awarded by the Glen Ellyn Architectural Review Commission. The Traveling Trophy Award is presented each year to a project that promotes a coherent and unique community identity. The award acknowledges excellence in architecture that achieves the aesthetic objectives of the Village of Glen Ellyn and is intended to recognize and congratulate the extra effort all have given to provide the Village with an outstanding asset.
The "Crowne Plaza 2009 Renovation of the Year Award" awarded by InterContinental Hotels Group, recognizing the hotel's successful major modernization and renovation during the past year.
