The Crowne Plaza Glen Ellyn is proud to have been selected to win these awards:
The "2009 Green Initiative Award" awarded by the DuPage Convention and Visitors Bureau recognizing the Crowne Plaza Lombard Downers Grove's sustainable practices. The bureau recognized the hotel's environmental commitment, including sustainable programs like guest recycling, insulated low-E glass windows and energy-reducing boilers. The hotel's linen reuse program, use of regional vendors, hybrid transportation, CFL light bulbs and more, make it an environmentally conscious property. The committee also acknowledged the hotel's adjacent restaurant, Glen Prairie local Flavor Find Food & Drink, serving locally-sourced, seasonable fare from local farmer's markets. Daniel Ovanin, executive chef of Glen Prairie, makes three visits weekly to local farmer's markets to source the freshest ingredients for the restaurant. The restaurant also promotes sustainability and "green" living by using recycled paper for its menus and employing only 100% compostable and biodegradable materials for its take-out supplies.
The "2009 Traveling Trophy Award" awarded by the Glen Ellyn Architectural Review Commission. The Traveling Trophy Award is presented each year to a project that promotes a coherent and unique community identity. The award acknowledges excellence in architecture that achieves the aesthetic objectives of the Village of Glen Ellyn and is intended to recognize and congratulate the extra effort all have given to provide the Village with an outstanding asset.
The "Crowne Plaza 2009 Renovation of the Year Award" awarded by InterContinental Hotels Group, recognizing the hotel's successful major modernization and renovation during the past year.
My partner and I stayed at this hotel for my college reunion, as did several alumni in our party, and our experience was fabulous in every way. The entire property is spotless and kept up as if it were an international 5-star hotel. Our room was spacious, lovely and very comfortable. The hotel restaurant was quite good and very reasonable. We booked our room for four nights, but had the opportunity to cancel our last night there and stay with friends in Chicago for our last night. However, we felt so comfortable in our room, and at the hotel, that we decided to remain in the hotel that extra night, even if it meant paying for it. :-) The next time I'm in the area, I'll absolutely stay at this hotel again. And, I have TripAdvisor to thank for it! When we were looking for hotels in the Wheaton - Glen Ellyn area, I checked this website and found the Crowne Plaza. When I called to make reservations, the staff was so amazingly friendly and helpful, I knew we found the right place. And we certainly did!
My second stay at this Crowne Plaza in the Lombard/Glen Ellyn area of Chicago. This is one of the best run hotels I have ever been in - this was my third stay here, even though my business location was some distance from this hotel. It's within a few blocks of the 355 expressway, so easy to get around the western suburbs of Chicago. While one reviewer indicates this area is "unsafe", it absolutely is not. While on a main street (Roosevelt Road), the area is a more upscale neighborhood in the Lombard area. Hotel restaurant is very good value, as is the room service breakfast. And the health club/pool area is spotlessly clean, as are the public areas of the hotel. Another innovative idea is the "quiet zone", where the hotel ensures that weekend wedding parties and screaming children aren't booked. The company who manage this location also manage the Crowne Plaza at O'Hare airport, where I've stayed as well. These people know what they're doing!
We were greeted by the friendly staff and a very clean hotel. The bed was great and the room was extra clean for a hotel room. My wife wipes all surfaces down with Clorox wipes before we put away a thing and it came up clean... most unusual. We have bad allergies so clean is important to us. The large indoor pool was wonderful for swimming laps and it too was clean. The exercise room was again clean and the equipment all worked. Each floor had a special machine that made filtered water for drinking so one did not have to buy bottled water, we just refilled our empty bottles... very handy
Very beautifully redesigned place. Great restaurant and large rooms. Clean and pleasant. I love the soft tones of the walls, flat screen TVs, free Internet. They did a GREAT job with this remodel. All the staff I encountered were excellent.
“Great accommodations not far from home” My teenaged son and I were in Glen Ellyn for a weekend tournament and instead of driving the 45 minutes back to our home on the North Shore eight times during the course of the weekend, decided to stay put in Glen Ellyn. I researched several hotels and decided the Crowne Plaza sounded the best. It really was. Very modern styling but not "cold". Very comfortable rooms nicely decorated with almost any amenity needed. Great service and very helpful staff. Didn't end up using the pool or fitness room but it was nice to know they were there. Overall a relaxing excellent stay.
“Very Nice Surprise!!!!”
My wife and son and myself stayed here at the Crowne Plaza Glen Ellyn in August 2011 for 6 full days. First time to Illinois visiting family. Looking forward to site see in Chicago also. Driving down Roosevelt Rd we drove right past the hotel. Small sign and the outside is very plain. But, once inside you are in for a surprise!!!!! Very clean and very spacious! Staff is very friendly and professional. Before our visit I contacted the General Manager Kim. I wanted to do something special for my wife for a belated b-day present. Kim was very helpful in planning this out. A bottle of champagne and very nice sized chocolate covered strawberries and also balloons!!! Not only was my wife surprised so was I!!! The room was very nice and the shower was awesome! Marble shower with 2 overhead shower heads. The indoor pool was great! I didn't take pictures but I wish I did. Very clean and big area. The pool is 9ft deep. That is rare to find in a hotel. Also, every day Monday through Friday between like 5 pm and 7pm the have complementary beer and wine and some sort of snack. That was so cool! Ordered breakfast for room service a few times. Great food, nice sized portions and professional staff delivering. To sum it all up. We would and will definitely stay here again! You should stay here if you are going to be in the area!!!!!
“Great choice at great price!”
Great place to stay in the Glen Ellyn area, and their prices are surprisingly affordable for what they offer here. Although there have been times the room accommodations did not match what we reserved, corrections were quickly made. The hotel is modern and decently clean, quiet and has great furnishings. The pool is really fabulous. Rooms only accommodate 4, so if you have a larger family like ours you may need to book 2. Cute bar/restaurant there too, good appetizers. We have stayed numerous times at this hotel on visits from NY as we have family in the area.
I had the pleasure of having to stay in the western suburbs for an event. The interior of this hotel rivals an mid-upscale hotel in downtown Chicago. It has big windows, which are adequately covered by blackout shades when need be. The interior of the rooms are contemporary with a light blue and brown color scheme. The mini-bar cabinet with small refrigerator inside is really cool. Flat screen mounted on wall has great HD picture and can be seen well from entire room. The pool is the best I've ever seen in a hotel- it's huge and actually gets almost 10 feet deep on the deep end. Only complaint with entire hotel is that there is not hot tub. Fitness center is well equipped and clean. One neat feature in the hotel is that they have purified water dispensers in the fitness center and on each floor. They have recyclable cups so you can take the filtered water to your room, rather than have to buy water bottles. Restaurant is great- atypical for a hotel restaurant.
I need to stay in the West suburbs of Chicago for work. I have stayed at most of the major hotels in the Lisle/Downers Grove/Lombard area and this one is my new favorite. It has been beautifully updated and is very modern. You can still smell the new carpet. The rooms were very nicely appointed with a small fridge and a safe. I stayed in room 332. The pool and the gym looked very nice. I had dinner at the restaurant and it was a very nice meal. Great bed. Quiet. I will be back. The wireless and wired internet was free.
I was in Chicago for a week including a week-end and needed a hotel that was central to my appointments but also convenient to the airport and whatever I decided to do over the week-end. I found this Crowne Plaza on the Priority Club site and after checking the reviews on TripAdvisor I booked in and was pleasantly surprised at how good it was. I travel a lot for work so am a bit jaded with hotels generally, this one is different. I was made feel welcome from the moment I approached the Reception Desk. Luz and Rose are superstars and do a great job of managing first impressions. My room was spacious, clean and quiet. The guest reception in the lobby Mon - Thur is a great way to meet the staff and other weary travelers over a pre-dinner drink. This is a very well-run hotel, you can tell because everyone you deal with on staff is on the ball and very customer focused.
